After working at a local food pantry, I realized that there were many families in my community that experienced not only food insecurity, but also easy access to books as their parents often did not have the time or resources to go regularly to the public library.

I wanted to impact low-income communities in my neighborhood and families who are housed in shelters with donated books so that they may have easy and free access to books.

During the pandemic, I was fortunate enough to have books delivered to my house from Amazon. When I was at home during the pandemic, I did not have any playdates or sports practices. I whiled away the hours immersed in the imagined worlds of fiction.

Along with other like-minded students, A Library Within Reach is a youth-run non-profit organization whose mission is to promote the joy of reading by providing free and easy access to books to shelters and organizations that serve low-income families.
